Obverse description Head of Athena facing right, wearing a crested Attic helmet adorned with an upturned griffin protome on the bowl and an olive wreath along the rim. The facial features are rendered in fine archaic-to-early classical Sicilian style, with a well-defined profile, prominent eye, and slightly parted lips. The neck is bare and the cheek guards of the helmet are raised. The overall style reflects the accomplished die-engraving tradition of late fifth-century BC Sicilian mints.
