| 背面描述 | Foreparts of two stags facing one another, their heads lowered as if grazing or confronted, set within a wreath of olive or laurel branches that frames the upper portion of the design. The civic monogram E-Φ (epsilon and phi) appears prominently in the upper central field above the stags, asserting the authority of Ephesos. The composition is rendered in relatively low relief on an irregular, roughly square flan typical of hammered small silver coinage of the period. The stag was a sacred animal associated with Artemis, patron deity of Ephesos. |
