| Descrizione del dritto | Bearded royal effigy of King Sancho III facing right, wearing a decorated crown with prominent crenellations, rendered in the stylised Romanesque tradition characteristic of Iberian hammered coinage of the mid-twelfth century. The bust is shown from the shoulders upward, with long wavy hair falling to the neck and a striated garment visible at the base. The facial features — large almond-shaped eyes, pronounced nose, and full beard with incised lines — display a bold, high-relief workmanship typical of the Toledo mint. A partial legend reading TOLETA is disposed around the effigy in the field, referencing the city of Toledo. The flan is irregular and slightly broader than the die, with a beaded border visible on portions of the periphery. |
