Reverse description Central device depicting a passant lion to the left, shown in bold relief with its foreleg raised and tail curled, set within a plain inner circle. The lion, heraldic symbol of the Kingdom of León, is rendered in the simplified but vigorous style typical of Alfonsine billon issues. The inner circle is surrounded by a beaded border and the same decorative lozenge-and-pellet outer border as the obverse. The circumferential Latin legend ET LEGIONIS encircles the device, completing the royal title begun on the obverse. The coin shows characteristic die-struck irregularity and surface patination consistent with hammered medieval billon.
