Jaime III was the last independent king of Majorca, a realm that existed as a vassal offshoot of the Aragonese Crown following the partition arranged by Jaime I of Aragon in 1262. His reign ended when Pedro IV of Aragon invaded and annexed the island kingdom in 1343, executing Jaime III at the Battle of Llucmajor in 1349. These dineros represent the final coinage of an autonomous Majorcan monarchy that lasted less than a century.
