Additional information

Jaime II of Majorca ruled as a vassal of his brother Pedro III of Aragon following the partition established by Jaime I's will in 1262 — an arrangement that created chronic tension between the two crowns. The Majorcan kingdom's coinage rights were a persistent flashpoint, and this dinero belongs to a reign interrupted twice by Aragonese annexation, once from 1285 to 1298 when Philip III of France briefly held the mainland territories.

Billon coinage from the Balearic mints of this period is notoriously difficult to attribute precisely within the reign span, as die evidence rarely narrows the window further than the full 35-year bracket.
