Obverse description Central plain cross pattee enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with a small decorative element at the centre. The cross divides the field into four quadrants, each containing a lion passant in low relief, characteristic of the Leonese heraldic tradition. The surrounding legend reads MONETA LEGIONIS in Latin capital letters, partially visible along the outer border of the coin. The hammered fabric results in a slightly irregular flan with some weakness at the margins. The overall style is consistent with early 13th-century Iberian medieval coinage.
