| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central field displays a rampant lion passant facing left, rendered in the heraldic style of the Kingdom of Leon, with the animal shown in profile with raised forepaw and tail curled upward. The lion is set within a beaded inner circle, consistent with the standard iconography of Leonese coinage. The surrounding outer border carries the royal Latin legend identifying the king as ruler of Leon. The overall style reflects the typical bold but somewhat worn relief of hammered billon coinage of late medieval Castile. |

Enrique III earned his sobriquet "El Doliente" — the Sickly — for good reason: chronic illness plagued his entire reign, and he died at 27 leaving a two-year-old heir. His treasury was perpetually strained, partly from the costs of suppressing the Castilian nobility, who had effectively run the kingdom during his minority. The billon content of small change issued from Toledo reflects ongoing debasement pressure rather than any deliberate monetary reform.
