| 正面描述 | Central field displays a stylized episcopal or comital monogram composed of interlaced letters, likely an Armengol cipher, with crossed staffs or keys beneath, all enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding legend reads ACRIMONT VRGI (Agramunt Urgell) distributed around the periphery in Romanesque majuscule letters. The overall design is characteristic of late 12th- to early 13th-century Catalan feudal coinage, with bold, slightly irregular lettering typical of hammered billon deniers of the period. |

Armengol VIII spent much of his reign entangled in the complex feudal politics of the Iberian northeast, caught between the expanding Crown of Aragon and the competing interests of Catalan magnates. His coinage at Agramunt — the commercial heart of the Urgell plain — reflects a county still asserting independent monetary authority even as that independence was becoming increasingly nominal. Armengol VIII died in 1209 without a male heir, and the county passed through his daughter to the house of Cabrera, effectively ending autonomous Urgell coinage.
