Armengol VII spent much of his reign entangled in the politics of the Crown of Aragon, having been raised at the court of Alfonso VII of Castile and later navigating competing obligations to both Aragonese and Castilian overlords. The Agramunt mint was the principal striking facility for Urgell's billon coinage during this period, and the dineros produced there circulated across the county's markets and toll-points in the Segre valley. Output was modest by Iberian standards — Urgell was a mid-tier county with limited silver access, which the low fineness of this billon reflects directly.
