Alfonso XI ordered this billon coinage as part of a broader monetary reorganization following years of regency-era fiscal chaos — he had been king since infancy in 1312, with competing noble factions debasing the currency at will until he seized personal control of the throne in 1325. The Coruña mint was one of several activated to meet demand. AB#356 places this issue within a tightly dated window tied to the Ordenamiento of Burgos.
