| Obverse description | Circular legend in Latin characters surrounds the central field. The inscription ALFONSVS REX CASTELLE ET LEGIONIS runs around the periphery of the flan. The coin is struck on an irregular, roughly circular flan typical of hammered medieval coinage, with the legend partially visible due to the irregular shape of the planchet. The die work reflects the rough artisanal style characteristic of 13th-century Castilian billon issues. |

| Reverse description | A bold cross pattée divides the reverse field into four quarters, each containing alternating castles and lions — the royal arms of Castile and León. The castle, emblem of Castile, is rendered as a three-towered fortification, while the lion of León is depicted passant. The design is typical of the quartered heraldic arrangement employed on the dineros of Alfonso X el Sabio, struck during the First Granada War period (1264–1268). The flan is irregular and the relief is robust, consistent with hammered medieval billon coinage. |
