| Reverse description | The reverse is divided into four quarters by a bold Greek cross extending to the coin's beaded border, a design feature that gives this issue its numismatic designation. In the upper-left and lower-right quarters appear a castle with towers, the arms of Castile, while the upper-right and lower-left quarters display a rampant lion passant, the arms of León. The alternating heraldic devices of castles and lions are rendered in a stylised, low-relief manner characteristic of Alfonsine billon coinage. The beaded border frames the entire composition. |
