| Obverse description | Densely inscribed field bearing multiple lines of Arabic calligraphy in the Maghrebi script style, arranged within a roughly circular border of pellets or dots typical of Saadian hammered coinage. The central inscription occupies the majority of the flan and includes the Shahada and dynastic titulature of Sultan Zaydan al-Nasir. The legends are struck on an irregular planchet, resulting in partial legend loss at the periphery characteristic of hammered gold dinars of this period. The script is bold and deeply impressed, with the text panels framed by linear borders. |
