Obverse description Hammered gold dinar struck in the name of Yusuf ibn Diwdad. The central field contains multiple horizontal lines of Kufic Arabic legend arranged within a double linear border, with the Islamic profession of faith (shahada) prominently displayed in the innermost zone. A circular marginal legend in Kufic script runs around the outer border, containing the mint name and regnal year. The coin exhibits the characteristic irregular flan and slightly uneven strike typical of early Islamic hammered coinage from the eastern caliphate.
