| Beschrijving voorzijde | Bust of Shapur III facing right, depicted in the Sasanian-Sindh style with a distinctive regal crown surmounted by a korymbos (hair-bundle orb), a characteristic feature of late Sasanian royal iconography. The king wears a beaded necklace and royal robes, with the effigy rendered in low relief typical of hammered provincial gold coinage. The field to the right bears a short legend in Brahmi and Inscriptional Pahlavi script. The flan is irregular in shape, consistent with the hand-struck technique employed for this series. |
