Obverse description Bust of the king facing right, rendered in the Sasanian court style with finely detailed regalia. The effigy is adorned with earrings and a mural crown fitted with characteristic earmuffs, surmounted by a globe or korymbos — the distinctive hair bundle associated with Sasanian royal iconography. The facial features are boldly struck in high relief, consistent with the hammered gold coinage of Shapur II's reign.

Reverse description A fire altar (atasdan) depicted in axial symmetry as a stepped column with a decorated capital (capitellum) and a multi-tiered base composed of stacked plates. A stylised tongue of flame issues from within the capitellum. The altar is supported on either side by stands in the form of lion-paw feet resting upon censers, the stands embellished with bow motifs. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded or pointed border, emphasising the sacred character of the Zoroastrian fire cult imagery central to Sasanian dynastic coinage.
