Obverse description Draped bust of Shapur II facing right, wearing the distinctive Sasanian korymbos crown adorned with a diadem and surmounted by a globus. The king displays a heavily beaded beard rendered in the characteristic Sasanian style. The portrait is executed in high relief with bold, stylized features typical of early Sasanian royal coinage. A Pahlavi inscription runs in the right field. The coin's edge is enclosed by a beaded border.
