Reverse description Central Zoroastrian fire altar depicted in high relief, with flames rising from the altar top and a stepped base below, all rendered in a bold, architectural style. Two royal attendants or guards flank the altar on either side, each shown in profile facing inward, holding the altar in attendance in the Sasanian tradition. A crescent and star device appear in the upper field above the altar flames. The entire design is enclosed within a prominent beaded border, consistent with the hammered gold coinage of Shapur II and emblematic of the Zoroastrian state religion of the Sasanian Empire.
