Obverse description Central field occupied by multiple horizontal lines of Arabic religious and honorific legends in raised relief, executed in the angular Kufic script typical of Zengid gold coinage. The shahada and related pious formulae fill the central area in a dense, multi-line arrangement. A circular marginal legend in cursive Naskhi script runs around the periphery of the coin, separated from the central field by a raised linear border. The flan is irregular and slightly buckled, characteristic of hammered medieval Islamic dinars.
