| Beschrijving keerzijde | Christ Pantocrator depicted in full figure, standing upright within a beaded mandorla in the Byzantine tradition. He holds the Book of Gospels in his left hand, with his right hand raised in a gesture of benediction. Two abbreviated Greek letters are placed symmetrically in the field on either side of the central figure. The composition closely follows Byzantine iconographic conventions prevalent in late medieval Serbian ecclesiastical art and coinage. The design is characteristic of posthumous dinars struck in the name of Prince Lazar following his martyrdom at the Battle of Kosovo in 1389. |
