| 正面描述 | Full-length frontal effigy of Prince Lazar Hrebeljanović standing facing, depicted in princely regalia with a beaded collar, holding a banner or staff surmounted by a saintly figure in profile in his right hand. The figure is rendered in the flat, stylized Byzantine artistic tradition characteristic of medieval Serbian coinage. A partially legible Cyrillic legend runs around the periphery of the irregular flan. |

Lazar Hrebeljanović struck these dinars during his rule as Prince of Serbia at a moment of acute Ottoman pressure on the Balkans. The year 1389 is the year of Kosovo Polje — the battle at which Lazar himself was captured and executed, and the Ottoman Sultan Murad I was also killed, making it one of the few medieval engagements to claim both commanders. Coins issued in Lazar's name from that year carry an almost documentary weight: production at the Serbian mints likely ceased abruptly with the defeat in June.
