| Reverse description | Hammered gold dinar reverse featuring a prominent multi-pointed star-shaped cartouche at center, enclosing the royal titulature of Abu Sa'id in multiple lines of Naskh script. A secondary outer frame of geometric stepped borders surrounds the central motif, with additional marginal Arabic legends in the broad surrounding field recording the mint name and date. Small pellet or dot ornaments are interspersed in the field. The bold geometric framing device and calligraphic composition are hallmarks of Ilkhanid royal gold coinage of the early 14th century. |
