正面描述 Full-length frontal effigy of King Hormizd I standing erect in royal Sasanian regalia, wearing an elaborate mural or crenellated crown with korymbos. The king holds a long sceptre or spear in his right hand, while his left arm is extended or rests at his side. Pahlavi inscriptions appear in the field to the left and right of the figure, giving the royal titulature. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, consistent with hammered gold coinage of the early Sasanian period.

附加信息

Hormizd I reigned for less than a year — roughly 270 to 271 AD — making any coinage attributable to his sole reign exceptionally scarce. The Indo-Sasanian issues complicate attribution further, as the kingdom's minting practices lagged metropolitan Sasanian production by years, meaning this dinar likely circulated within a provincial administrative framework rather than reflecting direct royal issue from Ctesiphon.

The Mitchiner Western and Indo-Iranian reference places this type within the earliest stratum of Sasanian influence east of the Indus.
