Obverse lettering لا الـه لا الله وحــــده لا شريك له مفرج بسم الله ضرب هذا الدرهم بالاندلس سنة سبع وثمانون وثلث مئة
(Translation: There is no diety except God alone He has no equal Mufariy In the name of God. This Dinar was struck in al-Andalus in the year three hundred and eighty six)
Reverse description The reverse likewise bears exclusively Arabic Kufic inscriptions arranged in three concentric zones, mirroring the layout of the obverse. The central field contains a multi-line legend in horizontal registers within an inner circle, naming the Imam Hisham and proclaiming his titles as Commander of the Faithful. A circular intermediate legend and a further outer marginal legend, separated by linear borders, complete the design. The strike is characteristic of hammered Andalusian gold, with slight flan irregularity and bold, raised lettering. No figurative devices are present, in keeping with Umayyad Cordoban numismatic convention.
