| 背面描述 | The reverse of this hammered gold dinar displays a multi-line central Arabic legend within a beaded inner circle, bearing the dynastic name of al-Muzaffar ibn 'Ali together with religious formulae. A concentric marginal legend, separated by a beaded border, carries a Quranic verse running around the full circumference of the coin. The flan is irregular in shape, characteristic of hand-struck medieval Islamic coinage. No figural or geometric decorative elements are present; the design relies entirely on fine Kufic calligraphy. The field shows the typical slightly uneven strike associated with Ziyadid hammered gold issues. |

The Ziyadids ruled the Tihama coastal plain of Yemen as nominal vassals — first of the Abbasids, then increasingly under the shadow of the Fatimid caliphate pushing down from Egypt. By the time al-Muzaffar ibn 'Ali came to power, the dynasty was in its final generation, squeezed between Fatimid doctrinal pressure and the rising Sulayhid power that would eventually extinguish Ziyadid rule entirely around 1044. Whether this dinar acknowledges Abbasid or Fatimid suzerainty in its legends is the key question for attribution within the type.
