Obverse description Central field occupied by multiple lines of Arabic Kufic script arranged in horizontal registers, bearing the Islamic profession of faith and the name of the Abbasid caliph al-Mustakfi. A marginal circular legend in Arabic script runs along the inner border, with an additional outer marginal inscription encircling the entire design. The field is plain with no figural imagery, consistent with the aniconic tradition of Abbasid gold coinage. The overall appearance is characteristic of the hammered flan technique, resulting in a slightly irregular circular form.
