Obverse description Aniconic design composed of concentric circular bands of Arabic Kufic script enclosing a central pellet within a plain inner circle, all executed in raised hammered relief. The innermost band carries the Islamic profession of faith (shahada) and Ismaili formulae, while successive outer bands contain the caliph's name and titles. The outermost marginal legend, separated by a raised linear border, records the mint and date. The overall composition is characteristic of Fatimid epigraphic coinage, with bold, angular Kufic lettering filling the field in a precisely structured, purely textual design devoid of figural imagery.
