Obverse description Typical Fatimid hammered gold dinar design consisting of multiple concentric circular bands of Arabic Kufic inscription filling the entire field. The central roundel contains a multi-line religious legend, surrounded by two or three additional annular inscription bands separated by plain fillets. The outermost band carries a marginal legend running along the periphery of the coin. The overall design is purely epigraphic with no figural imagery, consistent with Ismaili Shia Fatimid calligraphic convention. The striking is slightly irregular as characteristic of hammered coinage of this period.
