| Obverse lettering | Central square: لا إله إلا الله محمد رسول الله أبو عبد الله محمد الثامن. Outer margin: بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم |
| Reverse description | Reverse of this hammered gold dinar features a raised square cartouche enclosing multiple lines of Maghribi Arabic script naming the four Rightly Guided Caliphs: Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and Ali. The outer marginal legend records the mint city of Tlemcen (Tilimsan) and the regnal year of issue. A beaded border surrounds the square, and the coin's irregular flan is consistent with hand-struck Zayyanid production of the mid-sixteenth century. |
