| Obverse description | Frontal enthroned effigy of Christ Pantokrator, nimbate with a cruciform nimbus, depicted in half-length or full figure seated upon a jewelled throne with beaded side posts. Christ raises his right hand in a gesture of benediction and holds the Gospels in his left hand. Abbreviated Christological inscription appears in the field to either side of the nimbus. The overall style is characteristic of late medieval Balkan Byzantine-influenced coin engraving. |
