| Aanvullende informatie |
Morgantina, a Sikel city in the interior of Sicily, briefly gained autonomy after allying with Carthage following Rome's defeat at Lake Trasimene in 217 BC. This coin belongs to that short window of independent civic coinage — it ended when Rome retook the city around 211 BC, reportedly selling the entire population into slavery as punishment for the defection.
