正面描述 Draped bust of a female divinity facing right, rendered in fine Hellenistic style, with elaborately dressed hair bound in a tainia; the hair is arranged in voluminous wavy locks drawn back and secured by the band, with individual strands depicted with exceptional engraving skill. The facial features are idealized, with a straight nose, full lips, and a well-modeled chin. The portrait fills the flan within a plain circular border.

附加信息

Paros, though famous in antiquity primarily as a source of the finest white marble used across the Aegean world, maintained a modest but independent mint into the Hellenistic period. By the late third and early second centuries BC, the island's political autonomy was increasingly squeezed between Macedonian influence and the expanding reach of Rome — the Peace of Apamea in 188 BC reshuffled power across the Aegean decisively. Coinage from this narrow window reflects a mint operating under real geopolitical pressure.
