| Additional information |
Naxos was the dominant island of the Cyclades and a major Aegean wine-producing center, but by the mid-Hellenistic period its independent coinage had contracted sharply from earlier prolific output. This issue belongs to a phase when many smaller island mints were struggling to maintain silver coinage against the flood of Rhodian and Ptolemaic issues dominating Aegean trade. SNG Copenhagen 710 places it within a known but sparsely documented series, and die studies of Naxian Hellenistic coinage remain incomplete.
