| Obverse description | Bare-necked, laureate bust of Emperor Nero facing right, rendered in the portraiture style characteristic of the Caesarean mint of Cappadocia. The emperor's features display the idealized yet individualized treatment typical of early Neronian coinage, with a laurel wreath of carefully rendered leaves crowning the head. The surrounding Latin legend is disposed around the periphery of the flan, partially visible on this worn example. The flan is irregularly shaped, consistent with hand-struck provincial silver coinage of the period. |
