The emperor's hair falls in short, tightly arranged curls across the forehead in the Julio-Claudian style. A small aegis or paludamentum is visible at the base of the neck on the left. The surrounding Latin legend reads NERO CLAVD DIVI CLAVD F CAESAR AVG GERMANI, arranged around the periphery of the flan. The portrait displays confident, high-relief die-cutting consistent with the Caesarean mint tradition of the mid-first century AD. |
