Obverse description Bare laureate bust of Nero facing right, rendered with youthful features and a broad neck characteristic of early Neronian portraiture. The emperor's hair is arranged in the characteristic tiered fringe across the forehead, with locks falling to the nape. The finely detailed wreath of laurel encircles the head, a symbol of imperial and military honour. The encircling legend reads NERO CLAVD DIVI CLAVD F CAESAR AVG GERMANI, distributed around the periphery of the field. A beaded border frames the entire design.
