| Reverse description | A centrally placed silphium plant, the celebrated and economically vital product of Kyrenaica, depicted in full with a stout ribbed stalk rising to a flowering umbel head at the top of the flan and broad bifurcating leaves spreading laterally from the base. Flanking the lower portion of the plant is a cornucopia (horn of plenty) to the right, symbolising the prosperity of the region. The Greek legend KYPA, an abbreviation for Kyrene, is distributed in the field to the left and right of the plant, affirming the civic identity of the issuing authority. |
