Obverse description Bearded head of Dionysos facing right, crowned with a wreath of ivy leaves and berries rendered in high relief. The god's hair flows in thick, carefully articulated locks about the neck and temples, and the full beard is modelled with expressive, curling strands. The portrait displays the vigorous, plastic style characteristic of Hellenistic Cycladic coinage of the mid-third century BC. The field is otherwise plain, with no legend or additional devices.
