Reverse description An incuse square containing a finely detailed frontal crab, the civic emblem of Akragas, with both claws raised and all legs spread symmetrically. Below the crab, within the incuse field, a small heron or wading bird stands facing right, serving as an additional symbol or control mark. The reverse is executed in the deep incuse technique characteristic of early Sicilian coinage, with a broad raised border surrounding the concave central field.
