Obverse description Head of Athena in left profile, wearing a crested Attic helmet adorned with an olive wreath along the bowl. The goddess's hair flows in carefully rendered locks beneath the helmet, and a cheekpiece frames her finely modelled features. The high-relief portraiture is executed in the refined late Archaic to early Classical style characteristic of Velian coinage, displaying a naturalistic yet idealized quality. The crest of the helmet is prominently rendered with detailed incised lines, and a serpent coils around the bowl above the cheekpiece. No legend appears on the obverse.
