| Reverse description | A man-headed bull, representing the local river god, strides vigorously to the right in a dynamic pose, with head turned frontally toward the viewer and short horns clearly rendered. Above the bull, a small Nike flies to the right, extending a wreath toward the animal in the act of crowning it, a motif common to Campanian civic coinage of this period. A ground line separates the central device from the exergue below, where the ethnic legend reads in retrograde Greek characters. The composition reflects the strong influence of the Neapolitan die-engraving tradition. |
