| Obverse description | Nude horseman advancing to the right, his body turned slightly toward the viewer, right arm raised and extended to hurl a javelin while the left hand draws back the reins. The figure is rendered in the Archaic style with careful attention to musculature and posture, the horse depicted in vigorous motion. The composition fills the broad flan in a dynamic and energetic manner characteristic of early Sicilian coinage. |
