Suessa Aurunca, a Latin colony in Campania, struck this didrachm during a period when Rome was rapidly consolidating control over its Italian allies following the Pyrrhic War. The city's coinage output was brief — this series belongs to a narrow window before Roman monetary standardization effectively ended municipally-issued silver in the region.
SNG ANS 1154 is among the better-documented specimens of this scarce type.
