Obverse description A wild boar depicted in profile standing to the right with head lowered in a rooting posture, rendered with vigorous archaic musculature and a pronounced bristled dorsal ridge. The animal's tusks and snout are clearly articulated, conveying the beast's power and naturalistic energy characteristic of early classical Greek die-cutting. A dotted ground line runs beneath the figure. The ethnic inscription MAΘYMNAIOΣ appears above the boar in the upper field.
