Reverse description A fully open rose blossom with multiple petals is depicted in high relief at the center of the field, with two lateral buds on curving stems flanking the main flower — the civic emblem of Rhodes, whose very name derives from the Greek word for rose. To the lower left of the rose a eight-rayed star is visible as a secondary symbol. Below the bloom, within the lower field, appears the magistrate's monogram ΔΙ. The ethnic legend ΡΟΔΙΟΝ arcs along the upper periphery of the flan, identifying the issuing city-state. A dotted border runs along the lower inner edge of the coin.
