| Obverse description | Eagle standing left upon a rocky base, the wings folded tightly against the body, rendered in fine archaic style with meticulously detailed feathering across the breast and flight feathers. The bird's head is turned slightly upward, the beak sharply hooked, conveying a sense of alert dignity. The partial ethnic legend AKRA appears in the field to the upper right in archaic Greek characters. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, characteristic of early Sicilian coinage of this period. |
