Obverse description Facing head of Helios, the sun god, rendered in three-quarter view turned slightly to the right, depicted with flowing, wind-swept hair radiating outward from the crown of the head in the characteristic Rhodian artistic style. The facial features are finely modeled with high relief, exhibiting a youthful, idealized countenance with large, almond-shaped eyes, full lips, and softly rendered cheeks. The hair falls in thick, wavy locks to either side of the face, framing it with exceptional sculptural quality. No legend appears on the obverse; the field is otherwise plain within a raised border.
