| Reverse description | Quadripartite incuse square divided by two diagonal grooves into four recessed triangular compartments of alternating depth, creating a pinwheel or windmill effect typical of early archaic Greek coinage. The incuse is deeply struck and irregularly shaped, reflecting hand-hammered production. The surface of the compartments shows granular texture. No legend or figural type is present. This standard reverse type served as a countermark to guarantee the silver content of the coin. |
