Obverse description A hound depicted in full profile standing to left, head lowered in a scenting pose, with tail curled upward over its back. The animal is rendered in fine archaic Greek style with careful attention to musculature and naturalistic posture. No legend or inscription appears in the field. The type is characteristic of the Elymian city of Segesta and is believed to reference the sacred hunting hound associated with local religious tradition.
